Workbench power supplies are crucial for electronics development to let the tinkerer pick the voltage and current needed for their specific project and even test ranges of power to optimize their design. Humboldt Maker, Andy, found himself in need of such a device so he could continue to develop and work on other cool electronics projects.
Workbench, benchtop, or simply “bench power supplies” have always been an expensive tool and especially if you want or need one with high power capacity like Andy was able to create. Andy was not only able to save money, they were able to give new life to an otherwise discarded e-waste device by upcycling an old server power supply to suit their needs.
This project tasked Andy’s many skills, requiring electrical knowledge, soldering, cutting and even wood working! Read more about Andy’s project and how he did it here on our community forums!
