Question Film developing equipment?

Have a question you need help with?

I found a couple of rolls of film, and I'm tempted to get the equipment to develop them myself, which I've never done. I have 2 questions about that (well, 2 at the moment):
1) does anyone have experience developing film?
2) is this equipment something that the group would benefit from?

I had taken film photography in high school and we developed our own film and photos. Doing just the film doesn't really need much space since you can use a dark bag to load the film. They would have us practice loading and unloading film from inside the dark bag so we could learn to do it properly blinded. Black and white is really simple, you just need developer chemicals, stop-bath chemicals and fixing chemicals. The film is loaded into a developing tank inside that bag and then you can do the chemical washes in your sink in the light. Color needs more chemicals and bleach I believe but I have not processed color film before.

The maker group could totally benefit from a developer tank and dark bag, maybe even the pop-up tent dark rooms for people would want to develop photos and the over head film projector needed for that. Plastic trays for washing the prints would also be needed and the chemicals themselves.

I own a darkroom in ferndale and would love to get more involved with local makers. @farmersfilmsupply on ig
That would be awesome! I've been wanting to get more involved with film, and we would love to get more businesses involved here! Do you have an idea of how you'd prefer to get involved?

In related news: I checked out your IG and my wallet immediately cried for mercy. I'm not sure if it's better or worse that I live some distance away...

We are currently in the build stage of a community darkroom busy off main street in Ferndale, this is aside from our current workspace and a location people can rent out to do their own work as well as offer workshops and studio portraiture. I think once that space is available it would be great to host an open house and let people know just what we offer. Also we are right next to and affiliated with the makers spaces at Minds Eye Manufactory.

Ooooh, I'm into that. Definitely keep us posted as that gets closer to done; I think we'd all be stoked to see something like that come to fruition.

Also, don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything we can help with. It sounds like you're pretty well set up, but there's a huge range of skills in here already, so if there's something you need advice on, someone here might have a solution!
