Fake features on cheap tools

I recently needed to use my insanely cheap harbor freight corded jig saw to do some terrible wood working. It was a very messy affair and I kept thinking about how I should really 3d print an adapter to fit my shop vac to the small hose size used on this saw. I get out my calipers and go to measure only to find that is dust collection port is completely fake.

They don't advertise a dust collection port on this $25 jig saw. It's from Harbor Freight, if anything I am to blame for even thinking it would be real. If you open up the housing like I did you find it's a completely blocked off inside with no chance of ever working as intended even if you cut out the plastic blocking the airflow. The brushed motor air cooling fan will be in the direct path as well as the greased metal mechanism that provides the reciprocating motion are all in the same cavity ensuring it will clog with wood dust in no time.

It ended up dying before I was able to finish my project so I upgraded to a Milwaukee with real dust collection but a part of me still admires the cheek-ness of the industrial designers overseas.
